6 Metaphors for pedestal

The carved marble pedestal at the end of the tomb was a stand for a golden censer.

One learns quickly how bad modern mortuary architecture and sculpture can be, but I noticed one monument with some sincerity and unaffected grace: that to a charitable Marchesa, a friend of the poor, at the foot of whose pedestal are a girl and baby done simply and well.

Its pedestal is a block of Parian marble, presented by the Greek Government as a national tribute to the memory of Byron.

The pedestal upon which it stands, is 15 feet by 9 feet at the bottom and 8 feet at the top, and weighs 120 tons.

The lion at the left end of the façade is also a copy, the original by Donatello being in the Bargello, close by; but the pedestal is Donatello's original.

The pedestal is Carrara marble, sculptured with beautiful scenes called garden pleasureschildren in all manner of outdoor sports, and parents fondly looking on.
