5 Metaphors for prosodies

The Prosody of this work is fresh from the mint; the author's old grammar of 1821, which is the nucleus of this, being "confined to Etymology and Syantax."

1.The word prosody, (from the Greek[Greek: pros], to, and [Greek: ], song,) is, with regard to its derivation, exactly equivalent to accent, or the Latin accentus, which is formed from ad, to, and cantus, song: both terms, perhaps, originally signifying a singing with, or sounding to, some instrument or voice.

Prosody is the rhythmic pronunciation of syllables according to accent, respiration, and, above all, quantity.

Prosody, and Orthography, are not parts of grammar, but diffused, like blood and spirits, through the whole.

Prosody is the rhythmic pronunciation of syllables according to accent, respiration, and, above all, quantity.
