The Helicon version is certainly by far the best, and not improbably represents the poem as originally written in imitation of Shakespeare's.

The first act puts us in possession of the current version of the Bernick-Tönnesen family history, but it gives us no clear indication that this version is an elaborate tissue of falsehoods.
