Sail to Oban.

We had a good day and a fine passage, and in the evening landed at Oban, where we found a tolerable inn.

We then went to Fort William and Oban, and crossed over to Mull, where we were received by Maclean of Loch Buy.

We returned to Oban and on to Edinburgh, where we made a short stay.

On June 21st I went with my wife and two eldest sons to Edinburgh and other places in Scotland, but residing principally at Oban, where I hired a house.

Castle-Oban is lost in the darkness of night, For the moon is swept from the starless heaven, And the latest line of lowering light That lingered on the stormy even, A dim-seen line, half cloud, half wave, Hath sunk into the weltering grave.

They visited Rothsay, Col, Mull, and Iona, and after some dangerous sailing got to the mainland at Oban on October 2nd.

When we reached the railroad we found a train waiting, and we took it and went to Oban, which we reached about six o'clock.

Oban is a very pretty place on the coast, but we never should have gone there if it had not been the place to start from for Staffa and Iona.
