He passed Cape Angra, and the river Enseada, and so went over to the other side; and it is reported that he came to Cape Razo in lat.

Here, as in the last couplet of the Arabic gazul, were placed the personal allusions, and when these were unintelligible to the audience the joglar usually explained the poem before singing it; the explanations, which in some cases remain prefixed to the poem, were known as the razos.

The razos prefixed to some of his poems by way of explanation are the work of an anonymous troubadour (possibly Uc de Saint-Círe); they constantly misinterpret the poems they attempt to explain, confuse names and events, and rather exaggerate the part played by Bertran himself.

The razo further relates the touching scene to which we have already referred when Bertran moved Henry II.
