Here, at last, I began to see the strange sights and hear the strange sounds I had been looking forward to ever since I left my wee hoose at Dunoon.

It was in November of 1913, and I was setting forth upon a great journey, that was to take me to the other side of the world before I came back again to my wee hoose amang the heather at Dunoon.

"Four hours from the time when he handed me the blue paper in front of my hoose in Glasgow I was at Hamilton Barracks.

And so the day before Christmas found us back in our wee hoose on the Clyde, at Dunoon.

We had no thought that any wind could come blowing frae ootside ourselves that would cast down the hoose of our happiness.

And, sure enow, it was no Andy, the graceful, the popular one, who married herit was the puir, salt Jamie, who'd saved the siller o' his loveand, by the way, he'd saved the ither sort o' siller, tae, sae that he had a grand little hoose to tak' his bride into, and a hoose well furnished, and a' paid for, too.

I meant to build a wee hoose for the two of them, near our own hoose at Dunoon, so that we might be all together, even though my laddie was in a home of his own.
