Which preposition to use with taverne
When we came out of the little taverne at Beaumont, to startas we fondly supposedfor Brussels, it was pitch dark in the square of the forlorn little town.
A few minutes before we left the taverne for the station, to start on a trip that was to last two days instead of three hours, and land us not in Brussels, but on German soil in Aix-la-Chapelle, two incidents happened which afterward, in looking back on the experience, I have found most firmly clinched in my memory:
Printed by W. Wilson for W. Lee, and are to be sold at the Turks-head neere the Miter Taverne in Fleetstreet.
Againe hees startled: come, he shall to taverne with us and confess all.
