The Ohio and Monongahela rivers form the delta on which it is built, and on the bosom of the former the fruits of its labour are borne down to New Orleans, viâ the Mississippia distance of two thousand and twenty-five miles exactly.

A few miles N. of Cairo begins the delta which lies within the Rosetta and Damiettatwo main branches of the divided riverand is some 150 m. broad at its base.

Surely will, if they investigate that delta and find only a few bodies.

It carries great quantities of silt which goes to form and augment the delta through which it issues.

The southern end of this area was made available first, and the hills preceded the delta in popularity for cotton culture.
