MSS., there is the following entry on Monday, April 16:'Yesterday at dinner were Mrs. Hall, Mr. Levet, Macbean, Boswel (sic), Allen.

Dr. Levet, his friend and physician in ordinary[u], paid his daily visits, with assiduity; made tea all the morning, talked what he had to say, and did not expect an answer.

In 1782, his old friend, Levet, expired, without warning and without a groan.

Well try'd, through many a varying year, See Levet to the grave descend, Officious, innocent, sincere, Of ev'ry friendless name the friend.

Levet was Johnson's constant and attentive companion, for near forty years; he was a practitioner in physic, among the lower class of people, in London.

Such society I had with Levet and Williams; such I had whereI am never likely to have it more.
