In this war, what has hitherto been in the world an undesirable but necessary incident in freedom's battles, the killing of innocent men, has been eliminated; and that which is the true essential for forging liberty, the self-purification and self-strengthening of men and women has been kept pure and unalloyed.

It is within her to show that she can achieve her destiny by pure self-sacrifice, i.e., self-purification.

I hope that Bengal will take her proper place in this movement of self-purification.

Non-co-operation with it is free from violence, is essentially a movement of intensive self-purification.
